Preparing Your RV for Summer Adventures

Summer is R.V'ing up!

Canada is known for many things.

Hockey, politeness, Mounties, the list is endless. But, one thing stands out above all else.

Nature.

Lots and lots of nature. We are overflowing with clean water, beautiful mountains, impressive wildlife, and endless plains.

It’s that beauty that draws Canadians out of their houses and out into their natural surroundings.

Canadians love to explore and, for many, that will mean loading up the R.V. and hitting the road this summer.

However, before you can get back out on the road, there is some work to do to get that R.V. road-ready for the 2022 season.

Spring Cleaning

It’s most likely that you parked your R.V. in an outside storage location for the Winter. Even though paid storage facilities will endeavour to prevent the harshest aspects of Winter from harming your R.V. There will still be work to do to make sure that there isn’t any weather damage.

You should take the time to carefully inspect the interior of your R.V. particular attention should be given to the roof, where snow may have piled up.

Inner beauty

Don’t forget to inspect the inside of the R.V. as well. Dust can cause issues, and it’s possible that rodents or insects found their way inside (we will help you prevent that in a blog we publish this Fall).

If that has happened, call a professional.

If not, give everything a good wipe down!

Time for a drink

The next order of business is to check all the R.V’s fluids. Even if you parked it when it was fully topped off, it’s possible that evaporation has taken the fluids down to a level where a quick top-up is needed.

Once you get it back on the road, you should make sure that you get the R.V. to be serviced professionally as soon as possible.

Road trip!

You can’t comb over your tires

It can be easy to ignore early-onset baldness. Just pretend it’s not happening, right?

Unfortunately, you can’t put a hat on your R.V’s tires. Or do a comb-over. And, unlike your hairline, a balding tire isn’t just a sign of maturity, it can also be deadly.

The time when you put the R.V back on the road is also a perfect time to evaluate the state of your tires and, if needed, replace them.

Preparing is cool

R.V. parking space is at a premium, especially in Canada’s biggest cities. So, you’ll want to start planning for next Winter as soon as possible.

If you have winter recreational vehicles such as 4-wheelers or snowmobiles it might make sense to maintain the parking space year-round, but if you do not have use for it in the Summer, ask your local storage provider if you can put a deposit down to make sure you’re not left wanting when the cold weather comes back again.

Get out and discover Canada!

There are few places on Earth that can offer the diversity of beauty that this country does. And, an R.V. is the perfect way to get out and see it!
